Biuret reagent test for proteins
Contents per litre:-
Potassium sodium tartrate KNaC4H4O6.4H2O 45g
Potassium iodide Ki 5g
Cupric sulphate CuSO4.5H2O 15g
Sodium hydroxide NaOH 8g (0.2N)
To 200ml of this solution is added 80ml of 2N sodium hydroxide containing 5% potassium iodide (see below) and the volume made up to 1Lt with distilled water.
